Geoff Smith

Geoff Smith earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Vermont, Burlington,
in 1968, and was awarded the George Waterman Graduate Fellowship which allowed
him to take advanced courses in sculpture, ceramic sculpture, and design.

He has shown up and down the eastern seaboard, from Maine to Washington, DC, Richmond, VA, Philadelphia, PA, and Boston, MA.  He has had solo exhibitions in several states since 1972, and been included in many group exhibitions during that time as well.

He has completed select commissions for both private and corporate collectors, including a suspended ash and brass construction hanging in the atrium of the Portland (ME) International Jetport (2000); and a public sculpture at Cadman Plaza in New York City, a 20-foot steel sculpture commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Brooklyn Bridge (1983).

His work is also represented in the Permanent Collections of the Philadelphia Electric Company, the Federal Reserve Bank (Richmond, VA), The Champion International Corporation (Stamford, CT), the Boston Institute of Arts (Boston, MA), the University of Vermont and Bennington College, Vermont, as well as other places around the East.
